Daryl Dike trains with West Brom Under-21s as Corberan shares update
Carlos Corberan revealed Daryl Dike is now training with the U21s at West Brom as he continues his rehabilitation from injury.
The 24-year-old has been sidelined for eight months at The Hawthorns after rupturing his Achilles tendon at Portman Road in the 2-2 draw with Ipswich last season, only four games after recovering from the same injury.
Dike is now nearing a return to the pitch as Corberan explained to the Express & Star [11 October] the plan for him over the international break as he nears a return to the first team fold.
He said: “He is now training with a team, but with the under 21s, so his first step to come back…we have been specific.
“Individual physical work, and then technical and tactical, but when we moved to the collective training drills, the first step the medical staff wanted to do was with the under-21s.
“Then, he has done analytical drills with us, but not game situations. They will come in the international break.”
Daryl Dike nearing a West Brom return
The Baggies near-perfect run at the start of the Championship season has come crashing down in recent weeks after one loss and two draws in their last three outings.
Corberan saw fit to address the supporters personally via X after the 0-0 draw with Millwall last weekend, and his side have received a timely boost to their promotion prospects with the news Dike is taking significant strides in his rehabilitation.
Dike is expected to line up for the Baggies for the first time in over eight months in the next five to six weeks and the timing could not be more perfect with the free-scoring Josh Maja taking his foot off the gas in the Championship.

While the Nigerian offers more to West Brom than goals, they are the most valuable commodity in football and Albion will need goals in abundance to reignite the surge up the league table.
However, after several long-term setbacks to his development, it remains to be seen which version of Dike will return to the first team and whether he continue to exert his physical presence on the opposition.
Regardless, the supporters will be delighted to see their American forward in the famous navy blue and white stripes again.
