West Brom fans delighted as new Matheus Pereira update emerges – ‘Buzzing for him’

West Brom fans have been left delighted after a new Matheus Pereira update emerged during the international break.

The Brazilian spent two seasons at The Hawthorns, impressing under both Slaven Bilic and Sam Allardyce as the Baggies won promotion to the Premier League in his first season in the Championship.

Although the 28-year-old’s career hasn’t quite reached the heights many expected since he left Albion in 2021, he seems to have begun to find his feet again at club level, playing a crucial role for Brazilian side Cruzeiro.

What happened to Matheus Pereira after West Brom exit?

Pereria’s good form at club level has seen the attacker rewarded with an international call-up to the Brazil squad this October, with an official statement confirming he will replace Lucas Paqueta in the side [Brasil Edition, 11 October].

He may not be an Albion player anymore, but Baggies fans were quick to praise the 28-year-old with one writing, “Absolutely buzzing for him!! Fully deserved” and another, “the king”.

The days of Pereira lighting up The Hawthorns may be well in the rearview mirror now, but it is safe to say the attacking midfielder remains a popular figure among the West Brom fanbase all these years later.

Carlos Corberan and his side will be looking to replicate what Bilic’s squad and the Brazilian managed to do in the 2019/20 season and win promotion back to the Premier League this term. It won’t be easy, but the foundations are in place.

Hopefully, the likes of Josh Maja, Tom Fellows and Grady Diangana can produce moments of magic similar to Pereira to give the Baggies that extra dimension in the final third this season.
