Paul Hawksbee spoke about Liam Payne being his happiest while watching West Brom as talkSPORT paid tribute to the departed singer.
The former One Direction member passed away after falling off the third floor of his hotel room in Argentina [BBC News, 16 October].
Speaking about the singer on talkSPORT, as shared by BaggiesFan on X [17 October], Hawksbee pointed out that Payne was a massive fan of the Baggies.
“He was a West Brom fan,” Hawksbee stated.
“Friends of mine have seen him supporting the football team and said that when he was there watching his beloved football team, he was in his happiest of places.”

Payne’s sudden passing has shocked many and the Baggies also expressed their shock at the superstar’s death [WBA, X, 17 October].
The 31-year-old shot to fame after his performances on The X Factor alongside Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik.
One Direction went on to become one of the biggest boy bands in the world and had a massive fan following, selling over 70 million records and four number-one albums in the UK [BBC, 21 July 2020].
Over the years, Payne participated in Soccer Aid and raised money for charity for UNICEF – United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund.
Payne was also gifted a customised shirt for his son by the Baggies back in 2017 [WBA, X, 3 May 2017].
One Direction went on a hiatus in 2016, but Payne continued making music, releasing one album and having several hit singles to his name.
The 31-year-old’s latest song was Teardrops, which was released in 2024.
