Sky Sports pundit predicts Oxford v West Brom result – ‘Everyone asking questions’
David Prutton has predicted that West Brom will end their three-game winless run against Oxford this weekend (19 October).
Saturday’s encounter between West Brom and Oxford at the Kassam Stadium will be the first time the two sides have met in league action since March 1999.
Oxford have demonstrated strong form at home with 10 points from a possible 12, while the Baggies having taken just one point from their previous three games.
A win could see them go back top of the table depending on results elsewhere, though, and Sky Sports presenter Prutton tipped Carlos Corberan’s men to earn a 2-1 win.
On the Championship prediction podcast (17 October), Prutton said: “They (West Brom) were top of the table and looking pretty comfortable, weren’t they? Which just goes to show the wonderful nature of the Championship, you get a week where things don’t quite go according to plan and you get everyone asking questions.
“You’ve got a West Brom side going to a team that as we’ve seen can do good things at home.
“Do I think West Brom are going to get back on the horse? You know what, yes. Oxford United one West Brom two.”
No cause for concern at West Brom despite winless run
The Baggies have not been in the greatest form as of late, winless in their last three having failed to score in their last two but Corberan’s side remain just two points behind league leaders Sunderland.

West Brom have won five of their opening nine league fixtures, showcasing the league’s best away form having won three from a possible four.
Utilising Josh Maja could be key for their chances of a positive result this weekend with the striker having scored seven goals so far this season.
While still early in the season, a defeat could be cause for concern and may see the Baggies drop down to as low as ninth depending on results around them.
Corberan’s men certainly have what it takes to challenge for a place at the top end of the table but consistency may be their biggest downfall. The squad is padded with real quality as well as a manager who could be deemed as the best in the division.
