West Brom fans buzzing as new Darnell Furlong update emerges – ‘Announce promotion’

West Brom fans have been left buzzing after a brand-new Darnell Furlong update emerged at The Hawthorns.

Albion confirmed in an official statement on Friday (18 October) that the right-back had put pen to paper on a new deal to extend his stay with the Baggies until the summer of 2027, with a clause to extend it to 2028.

The 28-year-old has been an ever-present in Carlos Corberan’s side so far this season, starting all of Albion’s opening nine league games to help them climb to fourth in the Championship table.

What has happened to West Brom star Darnell Furlong at The Hawthorns?

While several other key members of Corberan’s squad are entering the final months of their contracts at The Hawthorns, Baggies fans have been quick to voice their delight after Furlong’s contract extension was officially confirmed.

One fan wrote: “Great news! He is playing the best football of his career. Long may it continue” while another said: “Announce promotion”.

Although Furlong has always had his critics at The Hawthorns, it is safe to say that he has become an incredibly popular figure among Albion fans in recent years as he has gone from strength to strength in Baggies colours.

Of course, there will now be an expectation that the 28-year-old continues to improve over the remainder of the season. Furlong cannot take his foot off of the gas just because he has penned a new deal.

Hopefully, both the right-back and his Baggies teammates will celebrate his new contract with three points against Oxford United on Saturday (19 October) as they look to get back to winning ways in the Championship after the international break.

Putting an end to West Brom’s three-game winless run would be a perfect return for both Corberan and his Baggies side.
