West Brom fans tell Carlos Corberan to make Jed Wallace call after draw v Oxford – ‘Useless’
West Brom fans have told the Baggies to “get rid” of Jed Wallace after his display in the Championship draw with Oxford United.
Carlos Corberan’s side were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw at The Kassam Stadium on Saturday (19 October) as Karlan Grant’s excellent first-half strike was cancelled out by a last-minute goal from Dane Scarlett.
The draw leaves Albion just inside the playoff positions in fifth in the Championship table having failed to win any of their last four league matches either side of the October international break.
What has happened to West Brom captain Jed Wallace at The Hawthorns?
Baggies skipper Wallace was a second-half substitute as he replaced Tom Fellows with 20 minutes left in the contest and while he didn’t see much of the ball, supporters were left frustrated by his performance.
One fan wrote: “Stop putting Wallace and Swift on please” while another wrote: “Get rid of Wallace. He’s useless.”
The 30-year-old was such an important part of Corberan’s side last season, but it is incredulity difficult to see where he fits into the Albion manager’s plans at this moment in time.
Wallace has only started one of the Baggies’ opening 10 league matches so far this term, with the likes of Tom Fellows, Grady Diangana, Grant and Mikey Johnston preferred out wide at this moment in time.
Even when he has been introduced from the bench, he has struggled to impact proceedings positively. If anything, it feels as though Albion become weaker, particularly in possession when their skipper takes to the field.
It will be interesting to see whether or not Corberan stands by his skipper or starts to listen to the supporters’ complaints and leave him on the bench in the coming weeks.
