West Brom fans have slaughtered goalkeeper Alex Palmer after West Brom conceded a late equaliser against Oxford United on Saturday (19 October).

The Baggies looked to have secured an important three points at the Kassam Stadium, with Karlan Grant netting in the first half, but the U's fought back in the final stages to draw 1-1 in the Championship.

With the ball going back to the Baggies keeper, Palmer launched the ball out for a throw-in, which Oxford capitalised on through Tottenham loanee Dane Scarlett.

The 28-year-old has been a key figure under Carlos Corberan, already keeping five clean sheets in the Championship this season, but that does not make him safe from criticism.

One fan wrote: "It was looking like a great away performance until one very poor decision by Palmer", while another wrote: "That goal came from Ajayi and Palmer faffing about to gift them a throw."

An away win would have been a great result, having dropped to fifth in the Championship table after such a brilliant start to the campaign.

With Burnley, Sheffield United and Leeds battling for automatic promotion, the Baggies are in a difficult race to get out of the second tier.

However, hopes were high after the first six matches, going unbeaten until back-to-back losses to Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough saw them drop down the table quite quickly.

Though there is still the majority of the season left to play, the U's equaliser two minutes into added time will feel like a defeat for the Baggies rather than a point on the road.

Of course, footballers are bound to make mistakes, and goalkeepers are often focused on more, but Palmer cannot hide from his moment of madness in the 1-1 draw.
