West Brom boss Carlos Corberan admits frustration after what happened

Carlos Corberan revealed his frustration at conceding a late equaliser against Oxford which enabled West Brom’s winless run to continue.

West Brom’s search for a win enters its fifth attempt when Corberan’s side travel to face Blackburn on Wednesday 23 October.

A late header from Dane Scarlett in their recent encounter piled additional misery on West Brom who have picked up just two points from a possible 12 in their last four games.

Speaking on West Brom’s website, Corberan revealed the effect the club’s recent form has had.

He said: “We were frustrated by the late goal conceded at Oxford on Saturday and any result in football will affect people. Whether it’s the manager, the players or the fans, any win, defeat or draw will affect your emotions. It’s normal and it’s natural.

“It’s important to understand why results have happened. Results are always the consequences of what has happened on the pitch.

“You need to learn quickly from your mistakes in elite football.”

West Brom need to get back on track for promotion

While it is easier said than done, two points from a possible 12 isn’t good enough for a side who have ambitions of achieving promotion this season and it isn’t as if performances have deserved much more.

With a squad full of talent with the likes of Grady Diangana and Tom Fellows among others, West Brom could and should be showcasing a lot more ability than they have done in recent weeks.

After such an impressive start to the season, any momentum has been halted with the current form of not just the club, but several key players.

As mentioned, Fellows is a player who possesses incredible attributes, so much so he has attracted Premier League interest, however, his performances as of late have been nowhere near what the forward is capable of. He certainly isn’t the only one.

A trip to Blackburn presents a great opportunity for Corberan to rekindle that impressive form his side demonstrated in the opening weeks of the season and get his players back to best ahead of what is a hectic part of the season.

In other West Brom news, head coach Carlos Corberan has said he has not considered moving into international management, calling it a “different challenge”.
