West Brom team news v Blackburn: Mason Holgate ruled out in blow
Carlos Corberan has confirmed Mason Holgate will miss the clash between West Brom and Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on Wednesday 23 October.
The Albion head coach confirmed that the defender will be out for one week after picking up a quad issue on international duty.
Holgate made his debut for Jamaica in the recent break, and Corberan admitted he still wants to play despite the issue at The Hawthorns.
Corberan said via the Express & Star on 22 October: “In his last game with the national team with Jamaica he felt something in the quad. It doesn’t look very serious, but from the day of the scan, it looks like he will be out for one week.
“Holgate is in the same situation as the previous game. He wants to put himself ready, but it would be a risk to increase an injury that is small, with no sense, so he will stay in the same situation and all of the other players are fine for now.”

Holgate has so far struggled to break into Corberan’s team, as he bids to make his first West Brom appearance since his first loan stint from Everton in 2019.
The centre-back, who turned 28 on Tuesday [22 October], put in a sub-par display for Jamaica against Honduras which will not have done much benefit to his cause.
In fairness to Holgate, even when fit, it is always going to be an uphill task to carve out a place in a defence occupied by the likes of Kyle Bartley and Semi Ajayi.
Paddy McNair has found himself in a similar boat, having appeared only in the Carabao Cup first-round defeat by Fleetwood Town since joining the club.
Holgate has been named as a substitute on five occasions by Corberan since arriving back in the West Midlands but has yet to take to the field and will now miss the next match.
