Grady Diangana struggles with 4/10 – West Brom player ratings v Blackburn Rovers

West Brom failed to win once again as they played out a 0-0 draw against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on Wednesday (23 October).

Chances were at a premium for either side but the Baggies were arguably second-best for the majority of the clash.

There were chances for Torbjorn Heggem, Darnell Furlong and Karlan Grant but none were converted and Carlos Corberan’s side are now winless in five Championship matches.

West Brom News rates the performance of each player out of 10.

Alex Palmer – 6

The Albion shot-stopper didn’t exactly have very much to do on the night and will be pleased with the clean sheet even if the result was frustrating.

Torbjorn Heggem – 6

The Norway international missed a golden chance in the first half which would have ultimately changed the game. A solid enough performance from the defender but it could have been better with a slightly better finish.

Paddy McNair – 6

The backline had a similar night to each other. In the case of McNair, for his first league appearances for the Baggies, he was a positive performer and contributed to keeping things tight at the back and limiting chances for Blackburn.

Semi Ajayi – 6

Similarly to his centre back partner, the Nigeria international bounced back from a difficult break with his country and looked positive as he helped to keep a clean sheet on the night.

Darnell Furlong – 6

The 28-year-old missed a golden chance like his opposite full-back in another moment which could have changed the tide for the Albion. Furlong looked good going forward but could have had a telling impact.

Alex Mowatt – 4

After a positive start to the season, Mowatt struggled to make things happen at Ewood Park and will be frustrated that he couldn’t get Albion ticking over better.

Jayson Molumby pick of bunch for West Brom v Blackburn Rovers

Jayson Molumby – 6

Another man who looked solid at the back despite not having much to do, Molumby can pleased with his night’s work in a positive performance. His passing just helped Corberan’s side to build from the back even if there was a lack of output further forward.

Grady Diangana – 4

Diangana started in the number ten role before moving out wide but didn’t have a true impact in either in the end. His effort with 20 minutes to go told the story of the clash, showing quality on the ball before a wayward effort on goal.

Karlan Grant – 4

Yet another Baggies man who had a quiet night at Ewood Park. His touch and strike late on was positive but he arguably took the wrong option. The game was there for the taking for either side but Grant failed to have a telling impact despite his goal against Oxford United.

Tom Fellows – 4

The 21-year-old failed to have much, if any, attacking impact against Rovers which saw him taken off early in the second half to be replaced by John Swift. A night to forget for Fellows.

Josh Maja – 4

There isn’t very much to say about Maja. He just failed to truly get involved in the game and as a result, it was little surprise that he was unable to get on the scoresheet.
