West Brom fans baffled by what Carlos Corberan did with Tom Fellows v Blackburn – ‘Criminal’

West Brom supporters have been left baffled by what Carlos Corberan did to Tom Fellows during the showdown with Blackburn Rovers.

Albion stretched their winless run in the Championship to five matches as they played out a third consecutive draw against John Eustace’s side at Ewood Park on Wednesday (23 October).

The stalemate leaves Corberan’s Baggies fifth in the table, two points clear of seventh-placed Norwich City and three points adrift of Leeds United, who occupy the second automatic promotion place.

What happened to West Brom ace Tom Fellows v Blackburn Rovers?

Corberan opted to start Fellows on the right wing with Grady Diangana and Karlan Grant making up the rest of the attacking trio behind Josh Maja, but the Baggies boss hooked the 21-year-old after just 58 minutes of action.

Although the winger wasn’t at his best, supporters were left confused as John Swift was introduced in the youngster’s place.

One fan took to social media to write: “Fellows for Swift is criminal” while another said: “Should probably have been Diangana getting hooked rather than Fellows tbh”.

For some reason, Corberan seems to be reluctant to play Fellows for a full 90 minutes this season. While the winger has made 11 appearances in the league so far this term, he has only played the whole game on one occasion.

It is only natural that the West Brom boss will be keen to rest and rotate his attacking options, particularly with so much depth in his squad, but it was an odd call to take off one of the most threatening players so early in the second half.

Of course, there may well be circumstances behind the scenes at The Hawthorns that fans are unaware of that could force the Baggies manager to manage Fellows’ minutes.

But for now, at least, it appears to be a tactical call.
