Tom Cannon deal assessed at ‘stumbling’ West Brom amid January admission
Dan Bardell believes West Brom could be in the market for a striker like Tom Cannon after a poor run of form in the Championship.
The Baggies are without a win in five games, a run which continued on Wednesday 23 October with a 0-0 draw away to Blackburn Rovers.
A lack of quality on the pitch for either side meant goals always felt unlikely so the introduction of a new striker for Carlos Corberan could have been useful.
After links to the £10millon-rated Tom Cannon [The Sun], Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell can see Albion making a striker signing in January after a difficult run of form.
Speaking exclusively to West Brom News, Bardell said: “They are stumbling a bit at the moment, it’s been a difficult few weeks.
“They need a win soon, this poor run has gone on longer than I thought it might have.
“Teams do this in the Championship when they are in the upper echelons of the table heading towards the January window.
“Even when they have a striker who is doing well, they will try and sign a goalscorer because they’re too worried about something happening and being left without that firepower.
“I understand why they would be in the market for another striker like Tom Cannon.“
West Brom could sign Tom Cannon in January
Josh Maja had a superb start to the campaign for the Baggies with seven goals in his opening seven games, before entering a run of four games without a goal.
This baron run has contributed to a lack of wins at The Hawthorns and could point towards a new striker being needed with Devante Cole the only other number nine option for Corberan.
Cannon could prove to be a useful option on loan, if his Stoke City deal is cancelled, after registering four goals and an assist this season.

Supporters will be keen to see what business is done by Albion in the winter window, especially after this poor run of form that has stretched over the past month.
