West Brom striker Daryl Dike now set to be out for weeks amid fresh injury twist

West Brom striker Daryl Dike will be ruled out for a few weeks after sustaining a hamstring injury in training, according to DOOD.

The reliable Baggies news outlet reported on 25 October that the United States international has unfortunately suffered a fresh setback as he looked to return to 100 per cent.

Carlos Corberan revealed that he was in line to return to full first-team training this week after his Achilles injury, but that may now be delayed.

DOOD wrote on X: “Daryl Dike hamstring injury in training. Few weeks out.”

Daryl Dike’s West Brom return now delayed with fresh injury blow

Dike’s current situation evokes sympathy due to the relentless string of injuries he has endured since joining the Baggies.

Initially signed with high expectations, the 24-year-old’s career has been marred by not just one, but a series of severe injuries, including two Achilles ruptures within a year, which are known for their long recovery times and potential for recurrence.

Each time he has shown signs of recovery and was on the brink of returning to competitive action, another setback like the recent hamstring injury occurs, pushing back his comeback yet again.

This pattern of injury, rehabilitation and renewed injury not only delays his professional development but also mentally and physically drains him, testing his resilience and love for the game.

For any athlete, especially one so young and with Dike’s potential, such a sequence of unfortunate events can be demoralizing, making it hard not to empathise with his plight as he strives to reclaim his form and place in the team.

In other West Brom news, a deal for Tom Cannon has been assessed at The Hawthorns amid the latest January admission.
