West Brom hit by ‘Big problem’ after Paddy McNair injury developments
Paddy McNair was substituted in the opening minutes as West Brom drew 0-0 against Cardiff City, and Geoff Peters suggested the defender could’ve picked up a hamstring injury.
The Baggies welcomed the Bluebirds to The Hawthorns on 26 October in the Championship, with Carlos Corberan likely disappointed with the single point.
McNair started the game alongside Semi Ajayi but went down after 90 seconds and was clearly in agony, with Peters, who was on commentary for talkSPORT [26 October, 15:25], sharing some concern.
“A big problem early on for West Brom. Paddy McNair going off. Looked like a hamstring injury,” he said.
Paddy McNair in new West Brom injury blow
McNair signed for San Diego FC in the MLS this summer but then joined West Brom on loan until the end of the year.
The former Manchester United star has been a bit part player for Corberan, with the Northern Ireland international being a backup in the squad.
Kyle Bartley has picked up a knock, though, which led to the 29-year-old making his first Championship start of the season against Blackburn Rovers.

McNair’s performance at Ewood Park saw him keep his spot against Cardiff, but unfortunately, the injury led to his substitution.
If the Northern Irishman has picked up a severe knock, he’ll likely miss the next few weeks, and with the defender’s stint at the club lasting only until the end of December, he could’ve played his final game for the Baggies.
The hope is that McNair will be up and running soon and contribute to any future success until he flies back to the US in the coming months.
In other West Brom news, Daryl Dike is now set to be out for weeks after a fresh injury twist.
