West Brom ‘rebuild’ required at The Hawthorns as Premier League admission shared
West Brom need a period of “rebuild” at The Hawthorns before they look to win promotion to the Premier League, according to football finance expert Dan Plumley.
The Baggies currently sit fifth in the Championship and are expected to be competitive in the race for the playoff positions, despite failing to win any of their last six league matches under Carlos Corberan.
Although Albion came close to returning to the Premier League last season and could do the same again this term, Plumley admits the lack of parachute payments at The Hawthorns could impact the Baggies’ playoff push this term.
“It’s another factor for sure,” Plumley exclusively told West Brom News.
“Now your parachute payments have gone as well, you have to start adjusting to life as another average Championship club.
What has happened to West Brom and Carlos Corberan at The Hawthorns?
“The money that you get there from TV is just not as much as it is in the Premier League so parachute payments do play a part in that as well.
“That’s why that period of stability and rebuild is probably needed now for them to kick on and look for promotion to the Premier League in the future.”

Albion’s recent form in the Championship has been a cause for concern for supporters who have been left doubting whether this team has enough quality to mount a genuine push for the playoff positions.
It is unlikely that Corberan will be given the money to make any major changes to his squad this January, with Plumley previously telling West Brom News that profit and sustainability restrictions will limit the Baggies’ incoming business.
Albion will have to do all they can to keep their best players at The Hawthorns at least until the end of the season as they continue to carry out this reset under the ownership of Shilen Patel.
