West Brom want Nottm Forest ace Lewis O’Brien as January transfer news emerges

West Brom are reportedly interested in a deal to sign Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis Obrien, according to TEAMtalk (30 October).

With their current winless run now having reached six games, West Brom will no doubt be looking to add additional quality to their squad in January in an attempt to cement a place in the play-offs.

O’Brien is one of the names to have emerged on the Baggies’ radar as they make plans to strengthen in January.

The report reads: “Nottingham Forest loan star Lewis O’Brien is attracting interest from several clubs including Southampton, Leeds, West Brom, Sheffield United, Stoke and Hull following his impressive form for LAFC in Major League Soccer, TEAMtalk can reveal.

“Premier League strugglers Southampton, along with Championship hopefuls Leeds, Sheffield United, West Brom, Hull and Stoke are all admirers of O’Brien and are monitoring him as they look to improve their midfield options for the second half of the season.”

Lewis O’Brien would be a remarkable signing for West Brom

Despite a tough couple of weeks, the Baggies still have an abundance of quality in their squad and arguably the best coach in the division in Carlos Corberan.

The addition of O’Brien would improve their chances of finishing inside the top six drastically.

O’Brien has been in excellent form in the MLS and consistently impressed across various spells in England.

Most recently with Middlesborough, O’Brien has showcased his ability as a top-level midfielder in the Championship and will have many suitors.

With over 140 appearances in the division, he would add much-needed quality and experience to the Baggies’ midfield.

The Baggies will face a tough battle to land his signature with Southampton reportedly interested as they look to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Corberan’s side currently find themselves eight points from league leaders Sunderland but if they can keep up until the window opens, it provides a great opportunity to gain a huge boost as they look to find the form they showcased at the start of the campaign.

In other West Brom news, Ben Foster has revealed that Steve Clarke sold Chris Wood at the Baggies because he was “too big” and “too slow”.
