Jamie Vardy reveals how he mocked West Brom fan who tried to get at him
Jamie Vardy has named his celebration against West Brom at The Hawthorns in the 2015/16 season as his most memorable wind-up moment.
Leicester City marched on to a historic Premier League title win that year as Vardy scored 24 league goals on the way to the monumental feat.
The 37-year-old has scored four goals this season in his return to the English top-flight but is arguably more revered for his antics on the pitch, revealing to Men In Blazers [29 October, 5:04], that his favourite memory is from a reaction to his goal at The Hawthorns.
He said: “My most memorable one would have been West Brom away the year we won the league.
“There was one guy who sprinted down about 56 stairs to try and get to me on the pitch which is why I stood there in the corner with my arms aloft just smiling.”
West Brom could use a striker like Jamie Vardy in the Championship
The match to which Vardy is referring to is the 3-2 loss against Leicester City on 31 October 2015 wherein, he scored the winner.
While the veteran is well into the twilight years of his career, last term saw 18 goals from the forward to send Leicester back into the Premier League whereas now, West Brom are slowly watching their automatic promotion aspirations fade away.
Josh Maja started the campaign in incredible goal-scoring form but has seen his recent efforts fall flat. The Nigerian is not solely to blame for the abysmal run of form but no goals in his last five outings doesn’t make for great reading.
Whereas Daryl Dike’s long-awaited return following a lengthy injury layoff has been further delayed with the 24-year-old sustaining a hamstring issue in training leaving Carlos Corberan reliant on Maja to re-find his goalscoring touch.

A trip to Kenilworth Road to face 22nd-place Luton Town seems a favourable match-up for the Baggies to return to winning ways in the Championship but with the winless streak now standing at six matches, three points are far from guaranteed.
Corberan’s side led the league table before the 3-2 loss against Sheffield Wednesday and are more than capable of mounting a return to the summit, but the points must come sooner rather than later with the possibility of falling as far as ninth on the cards should another defeat befall West Brom.
