Carlos Corberan raves about ‘Brilliant’ West Brom ace Torbjorn Heggem after what he did
Torbjorn Heggem was “brilliant in every single aspect” against Luton Town, according to West Brom boss Carlos Corberan.
The Norwegian defender is already becoming a firm fans’ favourite at The Hawthorns after joining from IF Brommapojkarna during the summer transfer window.
With injuries to Kyle Barley, Semi Ajayi and Paddy McNair forcing a defensive reshuffle for the 1-1 draw at Kenilworth Road (1 November), Heggem stood up the challenge and earned the praise of his manager.
In quotes reported by the Express & Star (5 November), Corberan said: “I think in general it looks co-ordinated and committed with the game in a match not easy to defend.
“Especially for me the game of (Torbjorn) Heggem in defence was brilliant in every single aspect.”
Heggem becoming crucial to West Brom and Corberan
West Brom have undoubtedly hit a bump in the road since making a brilliant start to the season, failing to win seven straight Championship matches and remarkably drawing the past five.
One bright note throughout, though, has been the form of 25-year-old Heggem, who looks an excellent find from the club and his rapport with the supporters continues to build with each passing game.
His versatility to play several positions across the backline is going to be particularly important for the Baggies and especially for Corberan, who has been contending with an injury crisis in defence.

Things do not get any easier either, with Burnley visiting The Hawthorns on Thursday (7 November), by which time West Brom could have fallen out of the top six spots depending on how results go the next couple of days.
But there is still plenty of time to arrest the dip and rediscover some form and you feel like Heggem will be crucial to doing so.
In other West Brom news, Corberan has set a challenge to another Baggies defender.
