Torbjorn Heggem makes ‘special’ West Brom admission after what fans did – ‘it’s not normal…’
Torbjorn Heggem described it as “special” that West Brom supporters are chanting his name during games.
The 25-year-old Norwegian has become a big favourite among the Baggies faithful since joining from IF Brommapojkarna in the summer and a roar of “Heggem!” is often heard reverberating from the stands.
Towering defender Heggem says having his name sung is something he is not accustomed to and is grateful for the love he is being shown.
In quotes reported by the Express & Star (5 November), Heggem said: “I think I heard it at QPR, the first game. In Norway it’s not normal to have your own song, especially at the club I came from, that is something special with England I think. It was really cool.
“I think someone told me after the match, I don’t think I recognised it. The fans are really supporting me.”
Torbjorn Heggem worth of West Brom love
If there is one player who really deserves the love of the Baggies faithful then it is the towering Norwegian, who has been the figure of consistency at The Hawthorns this season.
Carlos Corberan’s men made a flying start to the campaign and were top of the table before defeat at Sheffield Wednesday back in September started a run of seven games without a win, albeit the past five have been drawn.

Heggem has been excellent during the dip, though, and was particularly outstanding against Luton Town on Friday (1 November) where Corberan’s side played out a 1-1 draw.
They will need him to be at his best again on Thursday (7 November) when Scott Parker’s Burnley visit The Hawthorns, a game that by the time it is played Wes Brom could already be out of the top six depending on how results go over the next couple of days.
