Joe Gelhardt move to West Brom perfect as Leeds United exit revelation emerges

West Brom could look to solve their attacking problems by bringing Leeds United forward Joe Gelhardt to The Hawthorns in January.

While Josh Maja has been in brilliant form so far, notching eight goals and one assist in 13 matches, Carlos Corberan has limited striker options when looking at his bench.

Devante Cole has been unable to make the desired impact since making the step up from League One side Barnsley, while Daryl Dike remains on the treatment table after another injury setback.

The Baggies are now winless in seven matches, a run of games which includes two losses and five consecutive draws, adding to frustration at The Hawthorns.

With limited funds to work with ahead of the January transfer window, the Baggies could look to bring a couple of loan players to the club, one of which could be 22-year-old Gelhardt.

Although Corberan was never able to work with the young striker during his time at Elland Road, with the player joining a month after his departure, there is mutual respect between the manager and the club.

West Brom to sign Joe Gelhardt after Leeds United exit update?

According to MOT Leeds News [6 November], Gelhardt has become frustrated by his lack of game time under Daniel Farke and wants to seek a loan move away from the club during the January transfer window.

The former Wigan Athletic man has been loaned out to a Championship team before, having joined Sunderland during the 2022/23 campaign, but only scored three times in 20 appearances.

There is certainly a talented player beneath all of the frustration at Elland Road, and Corberan could be the manager to discover some of that talent at The Hawthorns.

Farke seems to have made it clear that multiple players are ahead of him in the pecking order, so while it remains to be seen how expensive a loan deal would be for the Baggies, it could benefit Leeds to get him gone on a temporary basis.
