West Brom fan fave in running for Coventry job – betting update

Former West Brom manager Tony Mowbray is in the running to take over at Coventry City following Mark Robins’ exit, according to the latest bookmaker odds.

The 60-year-old, who was manager at The Hawthorns between 2006 and 2009, is priced at 3/1 by Gambling.com to become the next manager at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

Mowbray, having been out of work since leaving his role at Birmingham City in March due to health reasons, is currently behind Matt Bloomfield, Frank Lampard and Steve Holland for the job.

Former West Brom man Tony Mowbray to re-enter manager role?

The footballing world was distraught when Mowbray stepped down from his role at Birmingham City, with fans, ex-players and pundits all rushing to wish him well.

Now, there is a chance that the 60-year-old could make an unexpected comeback to managing, with Coventry in desperate need of a new manager after a shock decision to sack Robins.

Mowbray remains a much-loved figure at The Hawthorns, and if Carlos Corberan fails to win promotion to the Premier League this season, he could be coming up against the Baggies in the Championship.

After 14 matches this season, the Light Blues are level on points with Plymouth Argyle, who are currently sitting in the relegation zone, which is a rather scary prospect for the club.

Given Mowbray’s experience across the decades, managing the likes of Sunderland, Blackburn Rovers, Celtic, Middlesbrough, and even West Brom and Coventry, a return is not out of the question.

If the former Baggies coach was to be the next Coventry manager, there would be a rather emotional return to The Hawthorns awaiting him next month.

However, with three big names ahead of him in the latest odds, it is not a dead-certain decision, especially considering the drastic nature of the Coventry board to get rid of Robins.

In other West Brom news, Carlos Corberan is to request a new striker signing after the latest Daryl Dike update.
