West Brom fans destroy John Swift after 0-0 draw v Burnley – ‘Rather have Taylor Swift’

John Swift was on the receiving end of criticism from West Brom fans after failing to impress against Burnley at The Hawthorns in the Championship on Thursday.

The 29-year-old was ineffective and was rightfully replaced by Mikey Johnston in the 64th minute as the Baggies played out a 0-0 draw with the Clarets on 7 November.

Starting in front of Alex Mowatt and Jayson Molumby, Swift played only two passes into the final third and failed to hit the target with his only shot (FotMob).

Carlos Corberan’s side are now winless in eight games and everyone including the manager is coming in for severe criticism, but Swift, in particular, was shown no mercy on Thursday.

The former Reading man came in for Jed Wallace after starting on the bench in the 1-1 draw with Luton Town on Friday (1 November) but did nothing of note.

One fan was so unimpressed with Swift’s performance that he joked he would rather see Taylor Swift play in his place, while another thought he was lucky not to cost his team a goal.

His performance was branded “ineffective”, with supporters unequivocally declaring that he offers nothing to the team.

It remains to be seen if Swift’s underwhelming display against Burnley will see him lose his place in the starting lineup when West Brom face Hull City away from home on Sunday, 10 November.

The Tigers are lingering eighteenth in the table and it presents Corberan’s side with a good chance to return to winning ways.
