West Brom fans blown away by what Mikey Johnston did vs Hull City – ‘Prime Messi’
Mikey Johnston impressed the West Brom supporters with his performance in their 2-1 victory against Hull City.
Having cut a frustrated figure since the start of the campaign, Johnston has found himself in and out of the side although his performance against Hull at the MKM Stadium on Sunday (10 November) is unlikely to see him dropped anytime soon.
Johnston registered an assist for the Baggies’ opening goal and was even referred to as “Prime Messi” by one supporter on X.
His performance was key to Carlos Corberan’s side ending their eight-game winless run.
Mikey Johnston tops up West Brom credit for his performance against Hull City
Johnston is a player who has massively disappointed at the Hawthorns this season after showing so much promise during a loan spell last campaign.
However, his performance against Hull was comfortably his best of the season and showed signs of him being back to his best.
West Brom have lacked the cutting edge in the final third but hopefully Johnston’s performance against Hull was a sign of things to come.
With Josh Maja on the scoresheet again, Corberan’s side have a natural goalscorer who has been starved of service in recent games and Johnston’s return to form could solve those problems ahead of what is due to be a hectic Christmas schedule.
If Johnston can carry the momentum forward, West Brom should be able to return to the form they demonstrated earlier in the campaign and resume their promotion push.
