West Brom make Mason Holgate announcement
West Brom star Mason Holgate has been called up to the Jamaica national team ahead of the November international break.
The defender made his national team debut under Steve McLaren last month and has been summoned again as Jamaica prepare to face the USA in the CONCACAF Nations League quarter-finals over two legs on 15 and 19 November.
West Brom announced the news on their website on Saturday (9 November), wishing the player good luck for those fixtures.
West Brom hope Mason Holgate returns unscathed
After previously having a temporary spell at The Hawthorns in 2019, Holgate returned to the club on loan in August, but did not make an appearance until Semi Ajayi picked up an injury in the team’s 0-0 draw with Cardiff on 26 October.
The Everton loanee went on to start West Brom’s following two games and is one of Carlos Corberan’s two available senior centre-backs.
With Semi Ajayi and Paddy McNair sidelined for a significant amount of time [BBC West Midlands], it is imperative that Holgate avoids any injuries.
It is common for managers to be worried about their players suffering injuries while away on international duty and it will be the same for Corberan with Holgate.

Carlos Corberan is having to make do with what he has for the time being, and hopefully he is backed with some reinforcements in the January window.
As for Holgate, getting called up for his country is hopefully a morale-boost that will work to Albion’s advantage.
In other West Brom news, Don Goodman has expressed his sympathy for Baggies ace who may have played his last game for the club.
