West Brom moment vs Hull City branded ‘Awful’ by BBC pundit live on air
Josh Maja’s goal for West Brom in the 2-1 win at Hull City was branded as “awful” from the home side’s point of view by BBC Humberside pundit Russ Wilcox.
Carlos Corberan’s side scored twice in five minutes in the first half against Hull on Sunday (10 November) earning them their first win in nine games, piling more pressure on Tigers boss Tim Walter.
Karlan Grant put the Baggies 1-0 up inside 13 minutes before Maja doubled their advantage in the 17th minute, with Wilcox reacting instantly to what he saw.
Speaking live on BBC Radio Humberside (10 November, 1:21 pm), he said: “That’s an awful goal to concede. Hull have switched off and he’s got around the back.
“They’ve had two opportunities and scored both and that’s the difference.”
Victory over Hull is huge for West Brom
Hull did get a consolation goal just before half-time, although that is all it would be as the Baggies secured a 2-1 win at the MKM Stadium.
Maja was on the scoresheet again, registering his 10th goal of the campaign with Mikey Johnston impressing throughout the clash.
The victory ended a disturbing eight-game winless run for Corberan’s side, who found themselves falling down the table as a result.
With several key players missing, the result is huge for West Brom and lifts the cloud of negativity that was starting to surround the club.

With Sunderland failing to beat Coventry on Saturday (9 November) the Baggies now find themselves just six points from the top of the Championship with the Black Cats to face soon after the upcoming international break.
Corberan will be hoping that players can return from injuries in two weeks time for their encounter against Norwich at the Hawthorns.
In other West Brom news, Don Goodman sympathises with Paddy McNair, who may have already played his last game for the club due to injury.
