Second Tier pundit Ryan Dilks believes that West Brom will compete for a play-off position come the end of the Championship campaign.

The Baggies occupied top spot after gameweek seven but Carlos Corberan's side went on an eight-game winless run before beating Hull City prior to the international break.

Injuries have played a part in that although their attacking woes have been the main concern, after they failed to score in five of those eight winless encounters.

However, speaking on the Second Tier podcast (17 November), Dilks revealed that he expects the Baggies to retain their place in the top six.

He said: "I think it says something about the consistency of Carlos Corberan's teams that they've gone through a bad run and they're still in the playoffs.

"It's remarkable really. That's why I'm pretty sure they will be competing for a play-off place again this season."

West Brom need to use momentum from Hull win

While the Baggies' winless run certainly wasn't ideal, they are still within touching distance of the teams around them but they cannot afford to revert to their previous ways.

Five of the eight games that West Brom failed to win, resulted in a goalless performance from Corberan's side with Mikey Johnston, Grady Diangana and John Swift all failing to show the creative spark that they have needed.

However, the win against Hull allowed Johnston in particular to showcase the quality that has been missing for several weeks.

His performance in the international break allowed him to continue that and hopes will be that he has finally returned to the standards he demonstrated during his loan spell last campaign.

With 31 games to go, West Brom have every chance of achieving success this season but much of that will hinge on their ability to remain consistent and recreate the level of performance that they managed against Hull.
