Roy Keane slams footage he saw of West Brom ace Jayson Molumby – ‘Get on with the job’
Roy Keane has blasted Jayson Molumby after the West Brom man was involved in an incident with Harry Kane in the Nations League clash between the Republic of Ireland and England.
Keane demanded Molumby “get on with the game” in a backhanded compliment to how well he had performed up until that point, just before half-time when the contest at Wembley was goalless.
The Albion midfielder became entangled in a minor altercation with Kane and Kyle Walker in the Nations League clash, which England ended up winning 5-0.
Keane said live on ITV1 [17, November, 17:57]: “I don’t like this kind of play-acting. I know Kane gets a yellow card, but why is [Molumby] holding his head? I don’t like this. Walker’s picking him up like he’s a child. We’ve all got kids, haven’t we?”
Presenter Mark Pougatch wryly added: “Upstairs to bed.”
Keane went on: “Yeah, I don’t like players holding their heads. Just get on with the job, you’re doing very well. Don’t do anything silly.”
Jayson Molumby hasn’t strayed far from controversy at West Brom, either
Molumby is a fiery character, even going back to his young days at Brighton and the loan spell at Millwall five years ago which introduced him more regularly to the senior English game.
Sometimes it works to his and his side’s benefit; other times, not so. His fracas incident in pre-season against RCD Mallorca was one his club attempted to hush as much as possible, but to no avail.
Under Carlos Corberan, Molumby has a good mentor – and has developed a maturity to most of his game these days both domestically and for his country as he looks to iron out the moments which let him down.

There is a careful balancing act in place not to completely filter out the bite in the Irishman’s game, as it can certainly come in very useful in an environment such as the Championship.
Molumby has appeared 12 times in the league this season, starting nine of those matches, and scored the winner against Swansea City at The Hawthorns on 31 August.
In other West Brom news, Corberan makes a “crisis” admission regarding the Baggies’ form.
