Daryl Dike compensation verdict emerges in West Brom injury update
West Brom are not entitled compensation as Daryl Dike continues to battle injury at The Hawthorns, Dan Plumley has said.
The American was due to return to training at the end of October after months out following that Achilles injury, but suffered a hamstring setback to keep him sidelined for weeks [DOOD, 25 October].
Plumley, a football finance expert, shared that clubs are only entitled to compensation from FIFA if an injury setback is suffered on international duty.
“That’s my understanding,” he exclusively told West Brom News.
“If a player is injured on international duty, there is compensation available to be claimed for through FIFA, but when they are injured in a normal day-to-day running of the football club that employs him, that means the club still has to pay those wages as it’s contractual.

“It’s one of those where it’s really bad luck and he’s not the first person to get injured and won’t be the last, it’s really annoying for the player side of things and the club.
“It’s one of those things you just can’t control and obviously, you still have to pay that player and hopefully, the recovery side of things and the medical staff you’ve got in-house can support the player and get them back quickly.”

Thankfully, Carlos Corberan has managed to get the best out of Josh Maja, who is second in the scoring charts of the Championship with nine goals.
The Baggies currently sit fifth after a positive start to the season, six points off the top two.
In other West Brom news, Mikey Johnston will have left Wembley feeling “aggrieved” after the decision that was made.
