Alex Palmer makes ‘Crazy’ admission at West Brom
Alex Palmer has termed the Championship “crazy” and has shared West Brom frustrations at being unable to capitalise on opportunities this season.
The Baggies won their first game in nine matches after beating Hull City 2-1 on 10 November, with goals from Karlan Grant and Josh Maja.
Carlos Corberan’s team sit fifth in the table despite six back-to-back draws before that win and speaking to the club website [20 November], Palmer feels the team have missed a great opportunity.
“If you look at the Championship, it’s crazy. We had six draws in a row before we went to Hull and won, yet we’re still in and around the play-off spots,” he said.
“If you look at how the league is this year, it’s really tight, and it would appear teams are all taking points off each other. I think that’s why we’re a bit frustrated because if we had managed to turn a few of those draws into victories, then we would have been right up there.”
West Brom need consistency
Palmer and his teammates did well in turning their fortunes around against Hull, and it could lay a mark for them to start a winning run.
The race for the play-offs spots is going to be nail-biting in the current campaign, with only nine points separating 10th place Bristol City from Sunderland at the top.
Just four points separate the Baggies from Leeds United, and if some of their results had been different, Corberan’s team could have been higher up the table.
What West Brom have struggled with this season is finding the back of the net at home, with The Hawthorns witnessing just two goals.

The Baggies have been solid defensively, keeping eight clean sheets in the league despite having injury issues with Semi Ajayi and Kyle Bartley missing the last few weeks.
Norwich are set to visit The Hawthorns next on 23 November, and Corberan’s team need to capitalise against a side that have lost their last three fixtures in the Championship.
In other West Brom news, a loanee has suffered a foot injury away from the club.
