Kyle Bartley injury news shared by BBC journalist ahead of West Brom v Norwich
Kyle Bartley will soon be returning to action for West Brom after a recent spell on the sidelines as he has returned to training, according to Steve Hermon.
The BBC journalist shared the update on his personal X account [21 November] ahead of Saturday’s (23 November) visit of Norwich City to The Hawthorns.
Experienced defender Bartley has missed the last five games for the Baggies after suffering a knee injury, which required him to undergo minor surgery.
This weekend’s trip to Norwich City will be too soon for the 33-year-old, but Carlos Corberan is targeting next Saturday’s (30 November) trip to Preston North End as a return date.
However, the boss is not writing off the possibility of his vice-captain being available for Tuesday’s trip to Sunderland should he feel it is the right time.
Kyle Bartley West Brom return a boost for Carlos Corberan
The Baggies haven’t fallen apart without Bartley, as they go into this weekend’s match seven games unbeaten – albeit a lot of those games ending in draws.
The West Midlands club will be glad to have one of their leaders in the squad available for selection again going forward.
Since the centre-back’s injury, Corberan has been forced to change the position of some players in order to fill the gap.
For example, Torbjorn Heggem and Mason Holgate have been required to alter their positions to come into the centre-back role for West Brom.
While the players have handled these changes well with three clean sheets in their five previous games, there is no doubt that having the experienced centre-back available again will be a boost for Corberan’s side.
Not only is the 33-year-old well versed in Championship football but his return will also provide a strong level of competition within the Baggies squad that will push everyone to perform at their best level.
Corberan will be relieved that he isn’t forced to rush his player back before it is necessary but has the excitement of him being available again soon.
In other West Brom news, an injury blow for one Albion player could mean the end of his loan spell.
