Diangana set for Monday scan as fresh West Brom worry emerges
Grady Diangana is set to have a scan on his calf on Monday amid ongoing fitness struggles at West Brom.
Despite training this week, the attacking midfielder was not part of Carlos Corberan’s squad in Saturday’s game against Norwich City.
With games over the next month coming thick and fast, the Baggies boss is keen not to put too much pressure on his player in order to manage the injury.
Speaking after the Norwich game [23 November], Corberan said via the Express and Star: “In the last weeks Grady had some problems with small things, not an injury, but small things.”
“He suffered a little bit with the ankle previously, and with the Achilles, and now with the calf. In training on Friday his calf was feeling tight.
“Knowing the period we are going into we are not going to take any risks, especially with a player that could not train yesterday.
“The problem with the calf now needs a scan, tomorrow is Sunday so he cannot have the scan, we need to wait until Monday to see the scan to see if he can train with the group and be involved with the next game or still not.”
Diangana an important player for West Brom if fit
Although this season has been a bit stop-and-start for the 26-year-old, who has only been in the starting line-up five times, we also know he can add to his side’s attacking efforts as he tallied up seven goals and eight assists last year.
Therefore, both the player and his boss will be hoping that this scan shows nothing serious which would ensure a speedier return to action for the Baggies.

With plenty of games to play between now and 2025, Corberan is making the right decision not to rush him back into the side too soon in the hopes of causing no further damage.
There is still plenty of the season ahead and as the West Midlands side seeks a play-off spot with their eyes on promotion, they will be hoping that Diangana’s scan doesn’t show anything serious so he can be fully fit soon which would allow him to play his part in the Baggies’ season.
