West Brom told to sign new No 10 as January transfer budget admission made

West Brom have been told to sign a number 10 in January, although Nigel Quashie isn’t sure what sort of transfer budget the Baggies will have in the coming months.

The Hawthorns welcomed Norwich on 23 November in the Championship, and Mason Holgate and Josh Maja found the back of the net as the game ended in a 2-2 draw.

Quashie took to X after the match and urged Carlos Corberan’s team to invest in an attacking midfielder in the upcoming transfer window.

“After watching the game this afternoon, the WBA team is crying out for an attacking box-to-box midfielder and a number 10,” he wrote.

“There’s too many of the same players in the middle of the pitch, and a mixture of player attributes would benefit the team, especially the wide players, along with Maja or Grant, whoever plays up front.”

“I’m not sure what the budget is, but hopefully, that’s what gets added to the squad in January.”

West Brom need plan B under Carlos Corberan

West Brom have stuck with the same players for most of the season, with Josh Maja, Karlan Grant and Tom Fellows being heavily relied upon in the attacking third.

The Baggies have lacked a decisive player who can come off the bench and make a difference, which has been highlighted in multiple games in the current campaign.

It’s unsurprising to see The Hawthorns faithful getting frustrated, with Corberan’s team scoring just four goals at home this term.

West Brom have also recorded five 0-0 draws this season in the Championship, which showcases the team’s inability to break down opposition defences regularly.

The Baggies got their first win in eight matches when they beat Hull City in the league on 10 November, and fans had hoped The Albion could build a winning run after the international break.

Alex Palmer recently admitted in an interview with the West Midlands club that Corberan’s team have failed to take their opportunities with the Championship table so tight.

It feels like they’ve dropped another two points against Johannes Hoff Thorup’s team, who had lost three back-to-back fixtures before coming to The Hawthorns.

In other West Brom news, fans have raged against Jed Wallace for his substitute performance against the Canaries.
