Carlos Corberan in favourites for Leicester job in West Brom exit update

West Brom boss Carlos Corberan is among the favourites to replace Steve Cooper at Leicester City, according to Guillem Balague.

The Spanish football journalist took to X and shared the latest on the Baggies’ manager after the Foxes surprisingly sacked the former Nottingham Forest man.

Leicester appointed Cooper this summer after Enzo Maresca left for Chelsea, but the Welshman has been relieved of his duties after 12 Premier League games in charge of the East Midlands club [Sky Sports, 25 November].

West Brom will dread Carlos Corberan links to Leicester

It’s unsurprising to see Corberan being linked with a job in the English top flight after his exploits at The Hawthorns.

The Spaniard has turned the tide at West Brom and has made The Albion a competitive outfit that is challenging for the play-offs spots.

After the 2-2 draw against Norwich City on 23 November, the Baggies are sixth in the Championship table, six points off Leeds United, who sit in first place.

West Brom won five of their opening six fixtures in the league and were unbeaten until Sheffield Wednesday found the better of them in the 3-2 defeat on 28 September.

While things have slowed down a bit at The Hawthorns due to a lack of goals, Corberan’s team have now gone eight matches without a loss in the Championship.

The 41-year-old is more than capable of taking over as the Leicester head coach, but the Baggies’ faithful will hope that the Spaniard takes them into the Premier League instead.

It would be heartbreaking for West Brom fans to see Corberan leave, but one wouldn’t blame him for taking a lucrative offer at the King Power Stadium.
