West Brom boost as Sunderland share new update on Dennis Cirkin
Carlos Corberan has been given a boost ahead of West Brom’s trip to Sunderland as Dennis Cirkin is not expected to be available for selection.
The Baggies travel to the Stadium of Light on Tuesday [26 November] to take on the side who sit second in the table, level on points with Leeds United.
The Black Cats left-back has continued to be a mainstay in the side this season but missed his first game of the campaign on Saturday (23 November) as his side drew 1-1 with Millwall.
The club confirmed the 22-year-old had undergone surgery on a broken wrist, and Regis Le Bris has now revealed, as per Sunderland’s official X account [25 November], that Cirkin is a doubt for the next game.
Could West Brom get a result at Sunderland?
The absence of Cirkin could definitely be a bit of a boost for the West Brom boss, who has been linked with yet another job, if he can set his team up in the correct way to exploit it.
Sunderland fans were surprised to see their player missing at the weekend and they won’t have been expecting to see him missing for too many games.
This could give the Baggies a decent chance at a result as they look to make it eight unbeaten after they earned a point against Norwich City at the weekend.
Sunderland have been guilty of too many draws this season, too, as their 1-1 result against Millwall made it four in a row.
Therefore, Corberan should be looking to get a point out of this game. However, with a key defender of the opposition missing another game, he will no doubt be keen to see his side taking advantage of this to get all three points.
In other West Brom news, Jed Wallace has faced the brunt of Baggies fans who were unhappy with his performance against Norwich.
