Carlos Corberan future at West Brom called into question after Preston draw

DOOD has questioned Carlos Corberan’s ability to take West Brom forward after yet another draw against Preston on Saturday.

The Baggies were held to a 1-1 by the Lilywhites at Deepdale on 30 November and eyebrows are now being raised over Corberan in West Midlands, according to the Baggies insider via X.

DOOD reckons the time has come for the Championship club to move on from the Spanish tactician, having outgrown him over the last two years.

“When Carlos took over he was 100 per cent the right man at the right time for our football club. We needed stability”, the insider wrote.

“We’re in a much better place around the club now, maybe now he’s not what we need.

“Eyebrows are certainly being raised at the club that’s for sure.”

West Brom’s form under Corberan in recent weeks is certainly concerning as they now sit seventh in the Championship after starting October as table-toppers. The West Midlands outfit are now 10 points behind leaders Sheffield United.

The Baggies have remarkably drawn nine of their last 10 games, scoring more than one goal only on two of those occasions.

With their only win since October coming against a struggling Hull City, questions certainly need to be asked of Corberan ahead of the second half of the season.

One can only wonder if DOOD’s feelings resonate with owner Shilen Patel, who would surely be concerned by West Brom’s recent results.

The club’s financial situation puts their ability to sack Corberan, who is contracted until 2027, if it comes to it, but the insider believes they could, albeit on one condition.

They would have to pay the 41-year-old’s severance pay in stages if they decide to fire him.
