West Brom fans turn on Carlos Corberan after Preston draw – ‘Inexcusable’
West Brom fans are beginning to turn on Carlos Corberan after his decisions in their 1-1 draw with Preston North End on Saturday.
The Baggies came away from Deepdale with just a solitary point despite the excellent Karlan Grant giving them a first-half lead, with Corberan surprisingly taking off Josh Maja as his side sought a winning goal.
Emil Riis Jakobsen’s equaliser makes it nine draws from their last 10 for Corberan’s side, and despite being unbeaten across this run, Albion are now two points outside the Championship play-off places.
West Brom fans turn on Carlos Corberan
After Albion insider DOOD posted on X (30 November) to say that eyebrows at the club are “certainly being raised” regarding Corberan’s future, many fans agreed that he could well be on borrowed time.
In response to DOOD’s post, one fan said Corberan “doesn’t seem able to push on”, with another adding that his frequent “negativity” when 1-0 up should see the Spaniard only last until the end of this season.
Another supporter said a “serious talk” needs to be held over Corberan’s long-term prospects at The Hawthorns, and a fellow fan stated that they had “lost faith” in the Baggies manager.
Further comments from disgruntled fans continued to pour in, calling the second-half “abhorrent – purely thanks to Carlos”, with a supporter in agreement saying the performance was “inexcusable”.
Calls for Corberan to be sacked went even further, as a fan laid out a timeline to say “give him three more games” because “one win in 12 is unfortunately worth the sack”.
Corberan’s future prospects looked even more ominous in the eyes of fellow supporters, one of whom said, “the tide is turning”, and another going further to declare that “his time is now done”.
The 41-year-old’s achievements at The Hawthorns are plentiful, but with Albion’s form seemingly only going one way, could it really be time to dispose of the Spaniard so early into the season?
In other West Brom news, one of Albion’s loanees’ long-term future at his parent club seems to have already been decided.
