Daz Hale fumes as Tony Brown shares ‘disappointing’ West Brom v Preston verdict

Daz Hale was left raging by West Brom after Tony Brown described their second-half performance against Preston North End as “disappointing”.

The Baggies fell to yet another draw at Deepdale on Saturday (30 November) despite taking the lead through Karlan Grant early on in a positive first half.

The performance after the interval was frustratingly different to the opening 45 minutes which Albion legend Brown took issue with live on BBC Radio WM (30 November) after the 1-1 draw.

He said: “It was a little bit disappointing in the second half, in my view. I thought they sat back a little bit more from the start and let Preston take the game to them. They tried to hold on to what they had I thought.”

Hale responded sharply: “I don’t like it. I do not like it. It’s undoing them time and time again. People can say it’s ‘one defeat in this’ but the bottom line is, it’s 12 points from 12 games. That’s nowhere near promotion form.

The performance in the first half was more like what fans expect from Carlos Corberan’s side and resulted in a deserved lead.

There were plenty of positives to take into the break despite the home side having their chances as Albion had the better of the ball.

The Baggies just had to try their best to replicate this showing in the second half but that was far from the case and that is where the frustration lies.

A different tactical approach was utilised compared to recent weeks but ultimately this saw the away side sit deep at times which didn’t go unpunished.

Trying to defend and see out a win can work but at 1-0 is a risk and this didn’t pay off as Emil Riis Jakobsen scored just 10 minutes into the second half.

This has led many supporters to question Corberan and his tactics but given how much work he has done at The Hawthorns, the Spaniard has plenty of credit left in the bank yet.
