West Brom laughing at ridiculous Everton transfer decision on Mason Holgate
West Brom supporters will be laughing at Everton for their decision to let Mason Holgate leave next summer.
The Athletic reported on Friday (29 November) that the Blues are set to allow the 28-year-old to leave the club when his contract expires in June 2025.
The Baggies loanee has made just four appearances since returning to The Hawthorns following a successful loan spell last season, but has impressed in the last few weeks since Kyle Bartley was injured.
West Brom fans rave about Holgate in Preston draw
Baggies fans raved about Holgate during the 1-1 draw with Preston on Saturday (30 November).
They have won just one game in the last 12 but Holgate has been impressive despite that fact.
The former Everton man made a spectacular clearance off the line in the 34th minute of the Championship clash to deny Josh Bowler which left supporters in awe.
He won all four of his aerial duels for a 100 per cent success rate and won five of his seven attempted ground duels for a 71 per cent success rate in an impressive defensive showing.
Holgate has really stepped up in recent weeks in a makeshift backline – his performances have been consistently solid for Carlos Corberan’s side.

His recent run of matches should increase the club’s appetite to sign the defender as he has really stepped up in the absence of the usual starters.
It would be no surprise if the Baggies sign him permanently if the Blues let him go as expected in the summer.
