Carlos Corberan explains Lewis Dobbin decision after what he’s seen at West Brom
West Brom boss Carlos Corberan explained Lewis Dobbin is getting more minutes after he’s seen him “growing” in performance levels on the training pitch.
The on-loan Aston Villa forward has made 14 appearances for the Baggies since arriving in the summer and, despite being yet to register a goal contribution, his recent performances have impressed Corberan.
Dobbin was praised by the Spaniard, who remained aware of the youthful nature of his loan player in quotes reported by the Express and Star (5 December).
“Dobbin is still a young player,” explained Corberan. “But what I watched with Dobbin is that he is growing. The amount of minutes he is having right now is increasing. Why? Because I am seeing his level increasing too.
“In every training session, I am watching what they are doing, every time they are on the pitch I am watching what they are doing. So depending on the needs you give more or less minutes. On how the player is using it you give more or less minutes.
“Now Dobbin has arrived to a time where he is more useful for us than in the beginning because even without minutes he has shown good growing.”
Carlos Corberan needs his attackers to start producing at West Brom
While the performances of Dobbin may have impressed the Spaniard, the fact he is yet to register a goal contribution speaks volumes about the woes that have haunted the Baggies this season.
West Brom have scored the least amount of goals of any side in the top 12 and, of course, Dobbin is far from the only guilty culprit for that fact.
Mikey Johnston, John Swift and Grady Diangana among others have been poor in terms of output and it has cost the Baggies on too many occasions.

Corberan has his side set up to be very hard to beat but their inability to score goals unless they are sourced by Josh Maja is a daunting concern.
Nine draws in their last 10 fixtures tell the story well and it is an issue that must be addressed if West Brom are to make anything of what was an excellent start to the campaign.
