West Brom want to sign Kelechi Iheanacho as January transfer news emerges
West Brom are reportedly eyeing a move for Sevilla striker Kelechi Iheanacho ahead of the January window, according to ElSevillsta.
The Spanish news outlet reported on 5 December that West Brom and Watford are “closely monitoring” the former Manchester City and Leicester City player ahead of a potential January swoop, either on loan or as a free agent.
Iheanacho is described as “one of Sevilla’s biggest sporting failures” by the publication and he is said to be looking for a way out of the club in January.
Kelechi Iheanacho would add quality depth at West Brom
Having played a large portion of his career in English football, Iheanacho would be a neat pickup for any side in the Championship.
Perhaps the biggest barrier to acquiring his signature could be his wages. According to Capology, the Nigerian is earning £76,715 per week, a figure that would be astronomically out of reach for West Brom.
Josh Maja has been in fine form for the Baggies and his place in the side shouldn’t come into question even if Iheanacho arrives.

The former has registered an impressive 10 goals so far this campaign in a struggling Baggies side that have won just one of their last 10 encounters. Nine of which have ended as a draw.
January will provide a great opportunity for Carlos Corberan to add to his side in a bid to strengthen their promotion hopes which at this stage, look likely to be in the play-offs if anything.
