Josh Maja exit now on at West Brom as 42-goal Premier League gem eyed

West Brom will rightfully come under question if they sell Josh Maja, but the potential replacements being eyed by the Baggies for the upcoming transfer window will excite many.

The Nigerian has emerged as Albion’s talisman this season after getting off to a slow start on his arrival in the summer of 2023.

After the hat-trick on the opening day of the current campaign against QPR, The Hawthorns faithful have put their faith in the 25-year-old, and he hasn’t disappointed.

In 18 Championship appearances this term, Maja has found the back of the net 10 times and has provided one assist.

Considering the Baggies’ goalscoring woes — only four scored at The Hawthorns — it’s hard to imagine where Carlos Corberan’s team would be without the Nigeria international.

With the 25-year-old in imperious form, unsurprisingly, he’s attracting interest from European outfits, with Real Sociedad and Celta Vigo looking to get the centre-forward for £16million [Super Deporte, 19 November].

Kelechi Iheanacho to replace Josh Maja at West Brom

The Baggies have been linked with a move for Kelechi Iheanacho, who’s currently plying his trade in Sevilla [ElSevillista, 5 December].

West Brom are interested in bringing the 28-year-old back to England after his stints with Manchester City and Leicester.

The Nigerian was one of the biggest prospects at the Sky Blues but couldn’t fulfil his potential, although he had a decent record in the English top flight, scoring 42 Premier League goals in 196 appearances.

While Iheanacho hasn’t been at his best in recent years, Corberan could be the man to turn the Nigerian’s fortunes, as he’s done with Maja.

If the Baggies were to get a decent fee for their current number nine and bring the Sevilla striker to The Hawthorns for relatively cheap, it could be a win-win situation for them.
