West Brom have priorities wrong as transfer news emerges

Kelechi Iheanacho’s link to West Brom could be a slight cause for concern that the club have got their priorities wrong ahead of the January transfer window.

It’s been a strange season for the Baggies so far. Having once occupied the top spot in the Championship earlier in the season, they have since won just one of their last 10 – drawing nine – and demonstrated a worrying lack of goal threat.

Earlier this week, links emerged from ElSevillsta (5 December) suggesting West Brom want to sign Iheanacho, which suggests two things.

Either Josh Maja’s exit is inevitable and the Baggies are making a succession plan, or the club are blind to the woes that have haunted them in recent weeks.

A striker is not a priority for West Brom

The Baggies main source of concern has been their lack of creativity. Maja has showcased his ability as a top finisher at this level having notched 10 times already, while suffering from a distinct lack of service in most games.

Tom Fellows has contributed with assists but failed to add goals to his game and he isn’t the only one. In fact, wide areas have been the most underwhelming part of this West Brom team this season and that is the area that needs addressing.

Of course, Iheanacho would be a good pick up but he simply isn’t what the Baggies need.

Players capable of creating is essential and if that isn’t priority, the club have simply got the wrong idea going into the January window.

Undoubtedly, the Baggies will be linked with several players over the coming weeks but it is an early indication that they have got their priorities wrong.
