Robert Earnshaw wowed by ‘Perfect’ Alex Mowatt footage in West Brom v Sheff Utd

Alex Mowatt wowed Robert Earnshaw with his “perfect” corner that saw West Brom take the lead against Sheffield United on Sunday.

The Baggies played out a 2-2 draw against the now table-topping Blades after making a brilliant start at The Hawthorns (8 December).

That included Mowatt putting in a sublime pin-point corner for Torbjorn Heggem to score his first Baggies goal after 24 minutes.

Reacting to the goal on Sky Sports Plus (8 December), former Baggies striker Earnshaw said: “It’s a great goal, we talked about delivery, watch this delivery from Mowatt, it’s perfect, right in the middle on the six-yard box and it just says Heggem can you deal with that?

“It’s a great little run, he gets half a yard and I always call it the eyebrows, it comes off the eyebrows and always goes into in that far corner.

“It’s a great finish from Heggem, great header but it’s about the delivery, the delivery is right on point.”

West Brom frustrated despite Alex Mowatt brilliance v Sheffield United

It really was a fantastic corner from Mowatt, the whip, the speed, the accuracy, there really was no way Heggem could have missed in all honesty.

It was just rewards for a lightning start that saw the Baggies have the Blades pinned well back in their own area and with some more composure it would have been even better for Carlos Corberan’s men in those early exchanges.

The frustration was that they were unable to build on the momentum and they were stung by two quickfire goals in the first half that undid all their early work.

Poor defending allowed Callum O’Hare to poke home the equaliser before Tyrese Campbell finished a well-worked move (at least from the visitors’ point of view shortly after to leave the Baggies reeling.

Tom Fellows did level it up but another draw will be a huge frustration for the boss, and indeed the supporters, and there is a real onus now on finding a consistent return to winning ways after a 10th draw from their past 11 Championship outings, which has left them two points off the top six.
