West Brom fans react to Dan Ashworth exit news at Manchester United – ‘Genius’
West Brom fans have reacted to the news of Dan Ashworth’s departure from Manchester United with many clamouring for his return at The Hawthorns.
Ashworth had a huge influence at West Brom before moving on to Newcastle United and then Man Utd, with the Baggies’ slip down the divisions a knock-on effect from his departure.
However, fans have expressed the want to see Ashworth return to his role at the club on Sunday (8 December), with one supporter labelling him a “genius” in a social media post, while another joked his return could win West Brom the Champions League.

While recruitment hasn’t been a major concern at West Brom, it is still far away from what it was when Ashworth was in post.
Perhaps more so down to the lack of finance available, the Baggies have regressed since his days at the club and it seems many supporters would be open to the idea of him returning.
Ultimately, after such high-profile moves since leaving the Hawthorns, any return for Ashworth seems unlikely although what a boost it would provide if it did happen.
His recruitment was key to the Baggies’ Premier League days which have been severely numbered since he left the club.
Would he have a major impact if he returned? More than likely, yes. Not only does his recruitment benefit on-field performances but he has a reputation for aiding club finances by picking up players for cheap and allowing their sales for a significant profit.
There isn’t a way to completely rule out a return, but it certainly provides an interesting talking point.
