West Brom player ratings v Sheffield United: 5/10 Callum Styles struggles
West Brom extended their run of draws as they drew 2-2 with Sheffield United at The Hawthorns on Sunday afternoon.
Carlos Corberan’s side started the game very well and took the lead through Torbjorn Heggem after 24 minutes but the league leaders managed to get two goals before half-time to give them the advantage.
The Baggies managed to get themselves back into it in the second half as Tom Fellows scored his first goal of the season to level things up but despite their best efforts, they could not get a winning goal.
Here, West Brom News rates the performance of each player out of 10.
Alex Palmer – 6
The goalkeeper didn’t have much to do in the opening 30 minutes of the game. Made a few good saves but could have done better with both goals.
Darnell Furlong – 6
Should have done better defensively for both goals but made some good blocks in the second half after settling into the game. He perhaps should have scored late on from a set piece too, only to glance wide.
Kyle Bartley – 6
All of the defence has to take some blame for the goals they conceded in that terrible few minutes in the first half but contributed with some good blocks too.
Torbjorn Heggem shines for West Brom
Torbjorn Heggem – 8
Scored his first West Brom goal after getting his head on the end of a corner. Showed really good awareness to get into the right position and made a difference in the heart of the defence.

Callum Styles – 5 (off for Mason Holgate 81′)
Styles struggled to settle into the game. He was the man who gave the ball away ahead of Sheffield United’s first goal and continued to lose the ball several times in the second half. Not his best day at the office.
Tom Fellows – 8
Still not sure if that ball was meant to be a cross or shot but either way, it was an effort to get his side level after the wicked deflection. He was in the right place at the right time with his direct running as the 21-year-old scored his first goal of the season.
Jayson Molumby – 6
Molumby had plenty of the ball throughout the game and made some good tackles to help his side stay on top of their opponents. The Irishman has to cut some things out of his game, like staying down after failing to win a ball late on despite his foul.
Alex Mowatt – 7 (off for Uros Racic 72′)
Alex Mowatt set up the first goal excellently. It was a perfect corner with the delivery of the ball into exactly the right place for Heggem to score, a set-piece masterclass. Corberan has certainly worked wonders with the midfielder.

Mikey Johnston – 7 (off for Devante Cole 86′)
Johnston deserves plenty of credit for his good vision that allowed him to put that lovely pass out to Josh Maja to set up the second goal. The 25-year-old was so tenacious in the second half too, giving us all flashbacks to his sensational loan spell last season.
Karlan Grant couldn’t create for West Brom
Karlan Grant – 6
The striker struggled to make too many chances this afternoon although did have a fair bit of the ball throughout the game, taking his man on with ease. It was just the final ball that seemed to let him down at the end.
Josh Maja – 7 (off for John Swift 86′)
Maja got the assist for the second goal which he set up nicely. He also created a few chances throughout the game although his side failed to score any more goals, he will be desperate to get back his consistent scoring touch.
Substitutions
Uros Racic – 5 (on for Alex Mowatt 72′)
With limited time on the pitch after coming on as a substitution, the Serbian didn’t have too much to do although he will no doubt be disappointed with the chance he missed at the end of the game.
Mason Holgate – N/A (on for Callum Styles 81′)
John Swift – N/A (on for Josh Maja 86′)
Devante Cole – N/A (on for Mikey Johnston 86′)
