West Brom torn to shreds over ‘Calamity’ v Sheff Utd live on Sky Sports
Gary Taphouse tore West Brom to shreds after their defensive “calamity” led to Sheffield United levelling the game.
The Baggies failed to clear their lines quick enough and allowed former Coventry City man Callum O’Hare to poke the ball home and equalise.
Speaking live on Sky Sports (8 December, 15:36pm), Sky commentator Taphouse shared his thoughts on the Blades’ first goal in a game that finished 2-2 at The Hawthorns.
“O’Hare pokes it in, defensive calamity for West Brom. They had the chance to clear it, they didn’t do so and Sheffield United’s number 10 Callum O’Hare was on hand to poke it over the line,” he said.
“Oh, that’s a nightmare at the back for West Brom it really is.”
West Brom and Carlos Corberan need to get back to winning ways soon
Despite taking the lead early on in the game, it feels like the Baggies have lost their form from the start of the season and have fallen into a trap of draws and losses.
Carlos Corberan’s men were one of the strongest teams in the Championship at the start of the season but recently their performances have left a lot to be desired.
They currently sit eighth in the second tier and are three points adrift of the playoff spots.
In terms of the top spot, thanks to their 10 draws in the league so far, the Baggies are 13 points away from United with their automatic promotion diminished as a result, though a significant part of the season still remains.

Of course, there’s still plenty of time left in the season for their poor form to be rectified but with many Premier League managers on the cusp of being sacked, West Brom could find it hard to keep hold of Corberan for the rest of the season.
Only time will tell what the future has in store, but at the moment, it feels like things could be going much better.
