Carlos Corberan makes Diego Simeone claim at West Brom
Carlos Corberan has referenced Diego Simeone when talking about the importance of fans at West Brom.
The Spanish manager used the Atletico Madrid boss as the example to urge fans’ support, with the Baggies hoping for promotion to the Premier League — which is still a possibility this season.
Corberan stated the importance of The Hawthorns faithful in affecting performances after their 2-2 draw with Sheffield United in the Championship on Sunday [8 December].
As relayed by Joe Chapman on his personal X account [10 November], Corberan said: “If they knew how much it helps when we hear them, it has a clear influence. We cannot ask the people if we don’t mobilise them first. The responsibility is on us.
“Diego Simeone asks for more than any manager in the world. Why? He knows there is impact.”
West Brom need to back Carlos Corberan
The Baggies have one of the most bizarre records in the current campaign, having drawn 10 of their last 11 games in the league.
Hull City have been the only team The Albion were able to get the better of during the unbeaten run, winning 2-1 against the Tigers on 10 November.
The Hawthorns seems to have grown a bit weary of performances, and questions are being raised regarding Corberan.
West Brom have struggled to score goals at home, finding the back of the net just six times this season, which has been one of the reasons for their stalemates.
The Baggies won five of their opening six fixtures in the league and were top of the table, but recent results have seen them drop to eighth.
The points gap between Corberan and those at the top of the table has only grown recently.
While the consecutive draws aren’t ideal, seeing the West Midlands club not losing even against some of the biggest sides in the Championship must be encouraging.
The Hawthorns needs to be bouncing and take heed of Corberan’s advice when Coventry and Frank Lampard come to town on Wednesday [11 December].
