Corberan exit: Wolves decide on Gary O’Neil sack amid West Brom speculation
Wolves have decided against sacking Gary O’Neil amid speculation linking them with West Brom manager Carlos Corberan, according to John Percy.
Writing on The Telegraph website on Tuesday (10 December), Percy reported that Wolves’ board are confident O’Neil, 41, will turn around his side’s fortunes despite losing 2-1 to West Ham on Monday night.
Corberan, 41, is reportedly on the Molineux club’s shortlist to replace O’Neil should they decide to axe the former Bournemouth boss [Matteo Moretto].
Will West Brom sack Carlos Corberan?
Whether or not you believe the report from Italy that says Corberan is top of Wolves’ shortlist to replace O’Neil, their decision to not sack their manager means it’s more likely the Spaniard will be staying at The Hawthorns for the foreseeable future.
Albion’s form has gained a lot of criticism from certain sections of the fanbase.
Despite being eighth in the Championship table after pre-season predictions of a struggle to achieve a mid-table finish, pressure has built a bit on Corberan, who’s struggling to keep hold of leads and turn stalemates into victories.
West Brom have won one of their last 11 league games.
They’re also unbeaten in 11.

Draws are as common at The Hawthorns as dodgy PA systems and some supporters have had enough, accusing Corberan of negative tactics.
But the simple truth is that the Baggies aren’t sacking Corberan any time soon.
He’s not seriously expected to win promotion this season so unless there’s a crisis, he won’t be going anywhere.
And due to PSR, there’s also a debate to be had about whether the Albion can even afford to relieve the former Huddersfield manager and his coaching team of their duties.
In other West Brom news, Corberan is set to axe this player in two changes to his starting line-up against Coventry.
