Corberan could have made mistake as West Brom XI v Coventry confirmed
Carlos Corberan could have made a mistake by naming Mason Holgate in his West Brom starting XI to face Coventry City at The Hawthorns on Wednesday.
The Spaniard has made one change to the team that drew 2-2 against Sheffield United at home on Sunday [8 December] as he looks to lead the Baggies to their first win in five games on 11 December.
Kyle Bartley played the full 90 minutes against Preston and the Blades after returning from an injury that kept him out for six games, but has dropped to the bench on this occasion.

As the vice-captain, Bartley’s importance to the West Midlands outfit need not be reiterated. He is one of the most commanding figures in the dressing room and his presence is important as Corberan’s side look to bounce back from a poor run of form that has seen them win just once in 13 games.
Holgate, on the other hand, is on loan from Everton and is not the most reliable figure at the back, although he has done well on occasion in the middle of an injury crisis in defence.
Coventry are placed 15th in the Championship table, but are not a team to be taken slightly as they look to turn things around after Frank Lampard’s arrival as their new boss. They go into the game on the back of a 1-0 win against Millwall.
It now remains to be seen if Corberan’s decision to start Holgate ahead of Bartley will come back to haunt him.
While it is understandable that he does not want to push Bartley to his limits after just returning from an injury, he could have instead started him and taken him off early.

Meanwhile, there are obviously no surprises in goal as Alex Palmer continues as Corberan’s first-choice goalkeeper, with Holgate and Torbjorn Heggem playing ahead of him.
The lack of options in defence means that Darnell Furlong and Callum Styles, who has been playing out of position, keep their places at right-back and left-back respectively.
Alex Mowatt, meanwhile, will pull the strings from the middle of the park after providing an assist against the Blades, alongside Jayson Molumby
Tom Fellows will look to add to his tally after finding the back of the net at the weekend, while Mikey Johnston continues his hunt for his first goal of the season.
Josh Maja and Karlan Grant, meanwhile, lead the line for the hosts.
