Coventry fans rattle Hawthorns with chant about ex-West Brom star Thomas-Asante
Coventry City fans rattled The Hawthorns with a chant about former West Brom favourite Brandon Thomas-Asante.
The 25-year-old returned to B71 with the Sky Blues on Wednesday (11 December) to face the Baggies for the first time since departing in the summer.
Despite starting on the bench, the Coventry fans still sang the name of the ex-Albion forward from the first whistle in the West Midlands.
Chants of “Thomas Asante he left cause you’re [expletive]” belted out from the away end much to the dismay of The Hawthorns faithful.

The ex-Salford forward was a fan favourite during his time with the Baggies and there was plenty of surprise when he departed in the last transfer window.
The Ghana international scored 21 goals in his spell at The Hawthorns, netting 12 in his final campaign under Carlos Corberan.
It has proved to be a blow losing the versatile attacker to Coventry given the lack of goals that Albion have scored so far this season.
Regardless of any potential regret, Thomas-Asante returned to the Midlands with his new side to face West Brom and it’s no surprise that fans would have back-and-forth chants about the forward.

This is typical of away ends travelling to the former home of one of their players but that doesn’t mean that the home crowd reacted any better.
It is an easy chant to make but not one that goes without a reaction which, of course, is exactly why it is sung in the first place.
